About Communication Development International

CDI was founded as a result of an environmental assessment of local and international organizations performances which revealed a niche yet pivotal gap in the market for strategic communication services. The assessment established that despite the increasing effort and attention to Yemen, the huge volume of monetary and human resources, and expensive implementation methods, international projects often resulted in unsatisfactory or below-par results, largely because of a failure to develop sound strategic communication strategies and / or implement them. CDI has the local knowledge, expertise and contacts to practically apply research-informed analyses to developing communication strategies which will support the project. CDI has a unique ability to develop solutions within a framework that is not only socio-culturally sensitive, but also – and far more impressively – to create original and innovative communication strategies which resonate with the local community to produce effects where, and how, a foreign consultancy would not feasibly be able to; it would be laboriously time-consuming for a foreign consultancy firm to adequately acquaint themselves with the minutiae of the communities they will be operating in – partly because they would be starting completely from scratch, and partly because of the likely security risks and procedures imposed on them would stifle any significant progress.
