About Deutsches Pelletinstitut (DEPI)

The German Pellet Institute (DEPI) was founded in 2008 with headquarters in Berlin as a subsidiary of the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV). The sponsors of the German Pellet Institute GmbH are all member companies of the DEPV. DEPI bundles the areas of communication, information, PR and marketing around the topic of heating with wood pellets. In dialog with representatives from the media, industry and science, the institute aims to act as a communication platform and competence center to permanently bring the topic into the public eye and inform consumers. DEPI initiates and coordinates supra-regional measures and is the point of contact for politicians, industry and trade. In addition, DEPI cooperates with other scientific institutions and sends speakers on topics related to heating with modern wood fuels. Since 2011, DEPI has offered training courses for the SHK trade to become a "pellet specialist". Since then, a total of more than 1,500 "pellet specialists" have been trained. They provide heating customers with comprehensive and qualified advice on the professional installation of a new pellet heating system. In 2010, the ENplus certification system for wood pellets was developed by DEPI.
