In Guatemala ist das Recht auf Bildung in der Verfassung verankert. Der Besuch einer 6-jährigen Grundschule ist verpflichtend, die einzige Schulform, die der Staat allen Kindern kostenlos zur Verfügung stellen muss. Trotzdem besuchen noch immer rund 245.000 Mädchen und Jungen zwischen 7 und 12 Jahren keine Schule. Leider ist der Anteil der schulpflichtigen Kinder, die nicht zur Schule gehen, in den letzten Jahren deutlich gestiegen: von 5,5 % im Jahr 2006 auf 19 % im Jahr 2015. Unsere Mission? Wir möchten 2025 eine Schule für min. 100 Kinder bauen, die min. 10 Jahre finanziert werden kann. Bildung hat uns allen vieles ermöglicht. Jetzt ist Payback Time und unser Ziel ist es auch anderen Menschen einen besseren Zugang zur Bildung zu ermöglichen. Konkret startet jetzt unsere Arbeit. Wir werden bis Ende 2022 fleißig Spenden sammeln, um in Chaquijya im Süden Guatemalas an der „Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta caserío Cooperativa" zwei Klassenräume à 42qm zu bauen!
