Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) is a bauxite mining company operating a greenfield bauxite mine in the Boké region of northwestern Guinea. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium, GAC began bauxite exports in August 2019 and has a production capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum. The mine has proven and probable reserves of 236.8 million tonnes of bauxite, with an expected lifespan of 20 years.
GAC's operations include a range of integrated infrastructure, such as a rail system upgraded from existing lines, a dedicated port terminal at the Port of Kamsar, and supporting facilities like a water desalination plant and power generation. The company holds a long-term mining concession that allows for future development, including plans for an alumina refinery. The initial project represented a significant investment of approximately $1.4 billion, contributing to local employment and economic growth.
