About The Diaspora Group

The 21st century is being shaped dramatically by the rise of the emerging economies of the world, in countries such as China, India, Brazil, and Russia, and across the southern hemisphere. Leaders who understand these cultures and economies will have an advantage and will play a crucial role not only in the emerging world but also in the West, helping to shape our global future through business, philanthropy, and policy. The Diaspora Group's mission is to help train, support, and connect such leaders of tomorrow. By harnessing the strengths, resources, and skills of global diaspora it aims to create a powerful network of people committed to positive change as the world embraces the opportunities and tackles the challenges that come with the rising East and South. As a social enterprise, it generates resources by supporting and shaping tomorrow's leaders and harnesses them to support causes in the community, to promote global trade, and help foster better cross cultural understanding. In 2013, The Diaspora Group piloted its first programme in the UK, the inaugural Diaspora Emerging Leaders Programme led by Lord Wei of Shoreditch and his management team. This was designed to help develop emerging leaders initially among and interested in the Chinese diaspora working, living, and studying in Great Britain. Its activities consist of leadership and networking skills development, action research, mentoring and social action. In the future the Group will seek to expand its support with partners to train other diaspora groups from or interested in other countries of origin, and eventually will look to develop chapters around the world. Programmes are developed both in-house and on a bespoke basis with partners to suit the needs of existing and future leaders within the diaspora world.
