The Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC) is a statutory body established to represent and regulate public relations and communication professionals in Zambia. It was officially formed by the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication Act No. 11 of 2022, which was assented into law on August 9, 2022, and came into effect on August 11, 2022. Prior to this, the organization operated as the Zambia Public Relations Association (ZAPRA), founded in 2008. Mandate and Functions: ZIPRC's primary mandate is to coordinate the registration of public relations and communication professionals and to regulate their conduct. Its functions include: • Promoting and encouraging internationally accepted public relations and communication best practices in Zambia. • Collaborating with state institutions on matters related to the profession. • Advising the government on issues pertaining to public relations and communication. • Undertaking research in public relations and communication. • Enforcing continuing professional development requirements for practitioners. Vision and Mission: ZIPRC envisions becoming a leading and dynamic public relations and communications body. Its mission is to promote excellence, professionalism, and ethical conduct in the public relations and communication practice through accreditation, strategic networking and partnerships, and continuous professional development. Membership: The institute offers membership to individuals who meet specific qualifications and adhere to established professional standards. Membership can be reduced, withdrawn, or terminated by the Council of the Institute in accordance with the ZIPRC Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.
